Employment Opportunity - PROPERTY & ACCREDITATION MANAGER

The City of Camrose is seeking a professional and energized individual for the position of Property & Accreditation Manager. This position will manage the property/exhibits of the Camrose Police Service, as well as the Accreditation & Standards portfolio required by legislation.

FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (but not limited to):

Property/Exhibits
- Ensure exhibits & other property are categorized and entered on the evidence management system.
- Ensure exhibits & other property is maintained and stored in a secure environment.
- Ensure continuity of exhibits and other property.
- Advise investigating officers to check case files for disposition of court exhibits and other property.
- Provide assistance/instruction to personnel on proper handling/packaging of exhibits and other property.
- Train new personnel on the evidence management system, other tasks as required.
- Conduct semi-annual & annual audits of exhibits and other property as required.

Accreditation/Standards
- Ensure all personnel are aware of requirements of Accreditation & Provincial Policing Standards via training programs, memos, personal interviews and any other means to enhance the understanding of policing standards.
- Review and approve internal/external compliance documentation.
- Review written directives, policies/procedures, regulations and practices for compliance with CALEA standards.
- Maintain the electronic files for Accreditation & Policing Standards.
- Monitor all standards for weekly, monthly and annual reports, providing recommendations for continued compliance.
- Evaluate documentation/reports for compliance with relevant standards.
- Review self-assessment package, liaise with Police Commission staff and Provincial representatives.
- Prepare self-assessment and public information plan, along with Accreditation budget.
- Create new policy as required. Prepare/update existing policy as new information or best practices become available.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by applicable post secondary education.
- Experience in a related field, preferably law enforcement or public service.
- A working knowledge of policing, Provincial courts and prosecutions would be an asset.
- Successful completion of CALEA Accreditation training (to be provided upon employment).
- Enhanced security clearance by the Camrose Police Service.
- Knowledge & experience in the safe handling of firearms.
- Proficient in policy development, issue identification, research & analysis and stakeholder engagement.
- Dangerous goods knowledge/familiarization.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Office 360.
- Be able to obtain designation of "Peace Officer" from the Solicitor General for the possession and handling of exhibits on behalf of the Crown relating to offences under the Provincial and Federal statues, the Criminal Code and Municipal Bylaws.

HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work are typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
