ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT 2 - RECEPTION (TERM POSITION)

The City of Camrose is seeking a highly motivated, energetic and reliable individual with a strong aptitude in customer service to join our Financial Services department in the position of Administrative Support 2 - Financial Services, Reception. Reporting to the General Manager, Financial Services, this position will be the first line of contact for customers entering City Hall.

This is a term position with an anticipated end date of March 31, 2026.

FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (but not limited to):
- Provides reception, customer service and administrative assistance.
- Receives payment on behalf of the City and related documents from outside agencies.
- Maintains file system of post-dated cheques and processes payments.
- Responsible for handling large amounts of cash.
- Ensures that proper control and security measures are adhered to with respect to funds being held.
- Receipting a variety of payments made in-person and electronically.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- A minimum of two (2) years of exemplary customer service supplemented with completion of an office/secretarial program, or equivalent.
- Basic accounting knowledge, skills and training are considered an asset.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using Serenic Financial Software is desirable.
- Exceptional customer service and public relation skills to effectively maintain professional relationships and communications with co-workers, internal customers and the public.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

TERM & HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work are typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is a term position with an anticipated end date of March 31, 2026.

Development Officer
Employment Opportunity - DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

The City of Camrose is seeking a highly motivated, energetic and reliable individual to fill the full-time permanent role of Development Officer. Reporting to the Manager of Planning & Development, this position will be responsible for reviewing and processing a variety of multi-unit residential, commercial, and industrial development permits. Communication and relationship building with customers is a critical responsibility to ensure development decisions are fair, equitable, and consistent.

FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (but not limited to):
- Liaise with the development and building community, providing guidance on municipal bylaws and regulations to support the development compliance and facilitate the development process.
- Review and process a wide range of residential development permit applications including single-detached dwellings, accessory detached dwelling units, duplexes, secondary suites, and multi-unit residential developments or as directed by the Manager of Planning & Development.
- Review and process commercial, industrial, institutional, and mixed-use development permits and additions.
- Provide guidance, training, coaching, and supervision to technical and support staff in a collaborative team environment.
- Process business licenses, file searches, and related permits and licenses.
- Complete the review of compliance certificates, accessory structure permits, deck permits, driveway extensions and other related permits and licenses, as directed.
- Respond to public inquiries and concerns related to land use planning and development.
- Conduct property inspections as it relates to performance deposits and development securities. Notes and follows up on
complaints/non-compliance.
- Responsible for interpreting the Addressing Policy and developing and approving addressing memorandums.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of post-secondary technical school program in municipal planning (e.g. Applied Land Use Certificate), or educational/work equivalent.
- Membership or eligibility for the Alberta Development Officer's Association is considered an asset.
- Minimum two (2) years' professional experience.
- Ability to understand file history, Land Titles Spin II, and document registry.
- General knowledge of planning, building, engineering, and construction terms and applications.
- Experience in cloud-based permitting and licensing applications would be an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Exceptional customer service and public relation skills to effectively maintain professional relationships and communications with co-workers, internal customers and the public.
- Strong time management and data input/tracking skills related to current planning initiatives.
- General knowledge of municipal advertising and public communication (print, web, and social media).
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and provision of a personal vehicle for undertaking duties associated with City's business.

ERP System Replacement Project Positions
The City of Camrose is seeking the following positions to join the City of Camrose's ERP System Replacement Project Team!
- Business Analyst
- System Analyst
- Project/Communications Assistant

The successful candidates will possess strong analytical and communication skills combined with experience from similar projects and within areas such as project communication, coordination of testing and training activities, data migration and general project management. The particular duties of each role will be adjusted to meet the skill sets of the candidates to maximize each individuals' contribution to the project. The positions will have a term through December 31, 2025.
The ERP Replacement Project commenced in November, 2023. The software solutions (UNIT4 and MUNIvers) were selected in June, 2024 and the design and build of the software solution is currently ongoing. The project is comprised of two phases. Phase I has a deadline of December 31, 2025 and will include core/base finance and HR functionality. Phase II is expected to be initiated and completed in 2026 and will include various modules and improvements not completed during Phase I.

Reporting to the General Manager of Financial Services these positions will ensure project goals are met within respective areas and will allow the City to meet project timelines and goals.

Preference will be given to candidates that are able to work onsite at the City of Camrose to help foster our team environment and accommodate impromptu in-person project meetings / discussions.

FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (but not limited to):
- Overseeing and coordinating testing activities including creating test plans, managing test cases and working with Leads to ensure software quality.
- Coordinating development of end-user materials together with Leads and Subject Matter experts that will allow the users of the system to easily access information on how to use the system.
- Prepare and coordinate project communications in accordance with the Communications Plan to various user groups and stakeholders.
- Assist and/or Lead areas of project dependent upon prior experience - potential areas include banking, projects, fixed assets and/or other areas.
- Assisting with project coordination activities.
- All other relevant duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Sciences, Business, Commerce, Business Information Systems or Data Analytics.
- Previous experience with system replacement / implementation is considered an asset.
- Knowledge / understanding of general accounting is considered an asset.
- Excellent data-related computer skills utilizing MS Project, JIRA, SQL, UNIT4, Salesforce is considered an asset.
- Excellent data analysis skills, strong communication skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and skills to evaluate, investigate, and interpret information related to financial processes.

The City of Camrose Fire Department is seeking dedicated, reliable individuals to join our team as Paid On-Call Volunteer Firefighters. Firefighters are responsible for protecting the public from the dangers of fire and other hazards. They control and extinguish fires, respond to medical calls, vehicle extrications, maintain equipment and practice fire
prevention.

FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (but not limited to):
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, including fires, medical emergencies, and rescues.
- Operate firefighting equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Perform fire suppression activities including hose line operations, ventilation, and salvage.
- Conduct search and rescue operations as needed.
- Provide medical assistance and support until advanced medical personnel arrive.
- Participate in training sessions and drills to maintain skills and stay updated on firefighting techniques and protocols.
- Maintain and clean firefighting equipment an apparatus.
- Assist with community outreach programs and fire education initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age and a Canadian Citizen or a legal permanent resident.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
- Grade 12 Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Physical fitness with the ability to pass a medical examination acceptable for the position of Firefighter.
- Standard first aid and CPR-Level C.
- Have a strong desire to serve the community and strong work ethic.
- Must reside within a 6-kilometer radius of the Camrose Fire station.
- Successful candidates will be required to produce a satisfactory Driver's Abstract and Police Information Check.

HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work for this position will vary depending on emergencies, and can include daytime, evening, night, and/or weekends, with the expectation to attend Tuesday night training sessions from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Heavy Metal Equipment & Rentals is looking for EXPERIENCED Red Seal/Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technicians for safety-sensitive positions to add to our growing team. This HET will work a 7/7rotation (Wednesday to Tuesday) based out of our Camrose Shop that is motivated, committed and wants to grow with us.

Technicians in our Central Region will earn a base rate of $46.03 - 48.45/hour. In a regularly schedule rotation (7/7) the tech will work 168 hours. 80 of those hours are paid at regular time, and 88 are paid at overtime.

+ Additional Compensation: Matching RRSPs, Vacation Pay, General Holiday Pay, Sick Time, Allowances (boot & tool), Bonus Structure and Group Benefits (life, critical illness & disability insurance, dental, extended health, vision).

The Job
- Check dozers, haul trucks, excavators and other heavy construction and mining equipment for proper performance of all major brands (CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, Hitachi)
- Inspect equipment for defects and malfunctions
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
- Repair and replace defective parts, components and/or systems
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and that it meets or exceeds manufacturer's specifications

Employment Opportunity - TEMPORARY SEASONAL POSITIONS - LABOURER 1 - UTILITIES

FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (but not limited to):
- Assist in the following duties and tasks: sanitary sewer cleaning, sewer manhole inspections, sanitary sewer root control program, excavation and repair of broken sanitary sewer mains and water mains and services, labourer for vac truck and water truck, valve operations, hydrant flushing/unidirectional flushing (UDF)
program, hydrant repairs, valve operations, chemical handling, meter reading and meter service work.
- Assist in maintenance of hydrants, valves, utilities and infrastructure buildings and assets.
- Perform yard maintenance (grass and weed control, snow removal).
- Perform basic manual labour using hands or common labour tools, complex handheld and affixed power tools and machines, light maintenance to equipment and vehicles.
- Assist in water treatment and wastewater treatment duties as directed and supervised.
- Communicate effectively with members of the public, users and other employees.
- Assistance with other City operation functions as necessary and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be enrolled in secondary or post-secondary institution with a good attendance record.
- Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.
- Basic computer literacy to perform assigned duties.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Punctual with a reliable and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with the general public and represent the City in a professional manner.
- Ability to exert moderate physical activity.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work are generally 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Shift work and overtime may also be necessary to address operational requirements. This is a temporary seasonal position from April 2025 to August 2025.

HOURLY WAGE: $18.17 per hour in accordance with the CUPE 1425 Collective Agreement.

TEMPORARY SEASONAL JOB OPPORTUNITIES:
1. Parks - Labourer - manual labour for maintenance and operations in the parks system.
2. Parks - Wildlife Coordinator - promoting wildlife and greenspace stewardship through planning, education, projects and research.
3. Golf Course Grounds - Labourer - manual labour for maintenance and operations on the golf course.
4. Public Works - Labourer - manual labour for public works operations: street, sidewalk and sign maintenance.
5. Golf Course - Pro Shop Attendant - Responsible for setting and charging tee times, sales, preparing golf carts, general housekeeping, answering phones and providing excellent customer service in the Pro Shop.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Reliable with strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Successful candidates will be required to produce a valid Class 5 driver's license and a satisfactory Driver's Abstract and Police Information Check.

HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work will vary depending on applicable position. Some shift work will be necessary to address operational requirements.

HOURLY WAGE:
- Labourers - The wage for these temporary positions is $18.17 or $22.18 per hour based on experience, and in accordance with the CUPE Local1425 Collective Agreement.
- Wildlife Coordinator - The hourly wage for this temporary position will be based on $18.96 per hour.
- Pro Shop Attendants - The hourly wage for these temporary positions will be based on $16.27 per hour.
